The 47-year-old Scottish singer, Susan Boyle, has seen a meteoric rise to worldwide stardom after her brilliant rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables on Britain’s Got Talent, creating a dramatic and triumphant scene as she won over disparaging and dismissive judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden as an audience that had laughed at her stated aspiration to emulate West End legend Elaine Paige turned to cheering and a well deserved standing ovation.

The video has since gone viral, and you can join the tens of millions who have seen the Susan Boyle YouTube video here.

The singer who lives in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland, has made numerous appearances via satellite on television programs both the U.S. and the UK. Most recently, the Susan King Larry King Live appearance has struck particular interest as the singer sang a beautiful, a capella rendition of the theme song from Titanic, My Heart Will Go On, a song originally sung by Celine Dion.

Already the Susan Boyle My Heart Will Go On has gone viral. With each performance she proves she was not a fluke or a one hit wonder. In fact, the singer, who lives alone with her cat in the house she grew up in, has long had aspirations of a professional career and briefly attended Edinburgh Acting School. Though she continued to sing in talent competitions, in recent years her professional aspirations had been put aside to take care of her mother who died at 91 in 2007.

When asked how she could sing so confidently in facing an unreceptive audience and judges, she said in the Susan Boyle Larry King interview:

“That doesn’t bother me because I knew I had to get on with my act … I wasn’t sure how I would be received, so I just thought I’d give it a whirl.”

Also on the program that night was one of the Britain’s Got Talent judges Piers Morgan who, apologized to the singer, saying that he and fellow judges did not give her the respect they should have and acknowledged that he thought she would be ‘a bit of a joke.’ He went on to say.

“And then I can remember … that second when you had begun to sing, and I had never heard a more surprising, extraordinary voice coming out of somebody so unexpected.”

The interview proved fascinating, but nonetheless, the highlight was the chance to hear the Susan Boyle My Heart Will Go On live performance on the program.

Regarding the singer’s international stardom, Amanda Holden, another of the judges at Britain’s Got Talent, in a separate interview said that she looks at it this way.

“The world has already made (Boyle) a star. I really cannot believe the phenomenon she’s turned into. And I think, with our backing and with the show’s backing, and, of course, with God’s backing — that’s (fellow judge) Simon Cowell (of “American Idol” fame in the United States)(she said, kiddingly) — I don’t think she can possibly go wrong.”

As the Scottish star continues to make the rounds of television appearances, we can hope she will continue to offer us these a capella tidbits of her enormous talent.
